Isle of Man Beach Holidays
Remember your childhood beach holidays, picnics and ice cream? Well, they still exist in the Isle of Man!
It’s not a coincidence that Peel is known locally as the “Sunset City”. The west facing beach is blessed with stunning, unforgettable sunsets and views over the Mountains of Mourne in the distance.
Peel Beach is situated on the Island’s west coast. It has a golden, gently sloping, sandy beach set in a beautiful bay with everything anybody could want from a perfect beach holiday, golden sand, cafe and kiosk, numerous restaurants and bars. No trip to Peel beach would be complete without popping into Davisons Ice Cream Parlor, where you can sample the best handmade ice cream and chocolate in the UK. Once you’ve tasted Manx chocolate you’ll be a fan for life.
Take a gentle walk to Peel harbour at the end of the beach and you’ll find a fine assortment of sailing ships and a great choice of restaurants, with many specialised seafood restuarants where you’ll find dishes featuring freshly-caught fish of the day. One of our favourites is ‘The Boatyard’. Then, if you want to walk off a hearty meal, have a wander around the nearby Peel Castle, originally built in the 11th Century by the Vikings; indeed you can see Odins raven Longship next to the harbour in the Manannan Museum.
The view to the south of Peel Beach is dominated by Peel’s medieval castle on St Patrick’s Isle and Peel’s breakwater, where the River Neb flows into the sea. The breakwater is a popular fishing spot, especially for mackerel, and you can regularly see seals here. Peel is the Isle of Man’s main fishing port and you’ll see boats regularly leaving and entering the harbour. Tucked in a little bay next to the castle is the beautiful Fenella Beach, one of the Isle of Man’s most photographed beauty spots.
